What an incredible week we have just had!
Rachel Kelly was with us on Monday at the Cathedral Conference Centre for her 'Walking on Sunshine' presentation and she was as informative and engaging as we knew she would be. It was a real pleasure and privilege to meet her; she shared so many hints and tips about achieving and maintaining good mental health, including breathing exercises, practising gratitude and the importance of 'good mood food'. It was wonderful to see the audience contributing and engaging so positively too and the event set the tone for the remaining two events of the week.
Caroline from the team facilitated our very first Happy Cafe meet-up on Wednesday at Julia's Tearooms and we had an incredible turn-out. The medieval undercroft was nearly full to capacity! A fantastic group of people came along prepared to share and chat positively with each other in an open and supportive environment and we look forward to many more of these occasions. The staff at Julia's were wonderful hosts too and we remain very grateful to them for providing us with the venue.
The week's events concluded with a picnic outside Julia's overlooking the Cathedral on Saturday, where a good number of people turned up to find out more about Happy Cafe Ely and Action for Happiness. Julia's provided drinks, cakes and ice-creams and Dave Streatfield from Cambridge Acoustic Nights at CB2 provided musicians and live music. There was lots of good conversation, the opportunity to contribute towards an ongoing piece of artwork exclusive to Happy Cafe Ely - and a sense of satisfaction with everything our launch week achieved.
Thank you to everyone who has played a part in our launch events and we now look forward to establishing our regular meet-ups at Julia's Tearooms on the first and third Wednesdays of each month from 10.30 until noon. Everyone is very welcome to come and see how they can make themselves and their lives happier! 😃
